Bio
Itachi's early life was filled with training to be a ninja. His mother, straight out of ANBU, had little else to teach her son, and if he was going to be a ninja the earlier start he had, the better. Itachi's father helped with this mission as well, and Itachi's earliest memories are his mother or father drilling him in the ninja arts. Itachi's parents taught him as fast as he could learn, making him into the perfect ninja, Uchiha, and son, never denying him any knowledge he caught on about the ninja arts, no matter how inappropriate it might be for a child to know. He was going to have to learn it someday, wasn't he, and he was such a clever little boy.

Itachi learned everything he was taught, and rocketed through the ninja ranks, achieving the unprecedented rank of ANBU captain at thirteen. He spent little time at home after making Chuunin at ten, usually away on missions or training with his almost as talented cousin Shisui. He never paid much attention to his younger brother Sasuke, other than acknowledging he was a silly little boy who didn't have much potential to be a great ninja like Itachi did. Still, Itachi's parents doted on Sasuke like they'd never doted on Itachi. Itachi didn't mind. They looked ridiculous cooing over Sasuke anyway, and by not training him as they had trained Itachi, almost ensured he would die an early death.

Soon after he made ANBU captain, Itachi was given his last mission as a Konoha-nin. He was to kill key figures of their clan, including Itachi's father, for planning a coup. Itachi accepted the mission, adding his own embellishments of killing Shisui to be certain he could carry out the plans, and then seeking out Uchiha Madara for a helping hand. Itachi had no intention of killing just the ringleaders of the clan. If the elders truly wanted Konoha to be safe from the Uchiha, there was only one way to go.

Total annihilation of an entire clan by one of it's own was unheard of in Konoha's history was unheard of, and Itachi felt no reason not to. It was a challenge. Could he actually do this? Could he stay sane afterward? If he could commit this ultimate travesty, what else could he do? Madara agreed to the modified plan, with the condition Itachi leave his younger brother Sasuke alive, so Itachi could achieve the ultimate sharingan. Itachi agreed, though he doubted Sasuke could ever fulfill his purpose.

The deed accomplished, Itachi left Konoha to join the Akatsuki. He was paired with Orochimaru, but could not resist the challenge of seeing if he could take on one of the legendary Sannin, especially after he found out the man had plans to steal his body. Itachi beat the Sannin, though he couldn't manage to kill him, and was paired with Kisame. With Kisame's bloodlust, and Itachi's insatiable need to push himself and take on new challenges, they got on well and caused a fair share of damage wherever they were sent.

By the time Itachi turned twenty, it was obvious the Uchiha had problems. His sight was failing him fast, and though his brother was rapidly gaining power, he was no closer to gaining the next level of the sharingan than he had been seven years ago. Itachi's health was usually bad, and he was plagued with a persistent cough. Soon after his twenty-first birthday, Uchiha Itachi was completely blind. Itachi was labeled a liability by Madara, and the last straw came when Itachi's lingering cough started producing bloody sputum, proving itself to be tuberculosis and not just some stubborn cold.

Madara sent Kisame to dispose of the useless Uchiha, setting his sights on Sasuke instead. There was no way Itachi could win, still getting used to his blindness and almost crippled with his illness, but he put up an impressive fight, and managed to make sure Kisame was infected with Itachi's disease too. Instead of killing Itachi, for whatever reasons he had, Kisame carted the almost dead Uchiha off to a monastery, where he could get treatment and learn to cope with his blindness, promising he'd come back and finish the Uchiha off when he was a challenge.

Itachi lived with the monks, learning how to 'see' without using his eyes, and regaining his strength. His lung capacity would never be the same again, but breathing stopped hurting. By the time Kisame came back, the Akatsuki had been taken out by a group of Konoha-nin lead by Naruto. He and Itachi had their fight, resulting in broken bones on both sides, massive blood loss, and a new-found appreciation for each other.

Since Kisame no longer had an organization to work for, and Itachi had defected from said organization when it sent Kisame after him to kill him, the two decided to pair up again and set off to to whatever missing-nin did. It turned out to be: going hungry a lot and fighting off a lot of head-hunters. They turned into head-hunters themselves, hunting down other missing-nin, troublesome ninja, and staying one step ahead of those after them.

When Kisame hit his forties, the two started slowing down. They took longer rests, more sedate 'assignments', and had even begun discussing retirement, which would never happen because neither of them could stand leaving the life of a ninja behind, even with bones that ached and hair that was more grey or white than anything else.

Physical Description: Itachi's a thirty plus year-old ninja. His hair, cropped at chin length with shorter bangs, is streaked with gray. His body is scarred, worn and gnarled. Arthritis is setting in his joints, most noticeably his hands, wrists, and ankles, and his hands are on their way to looking clawed with swollen knuckles. His grey eyes are now clouded over and sightless, and usually covered with dark glasses or a strip of cloth.

He plays the part of an old blind man, which he is, though he looks older than he actually is. His clothes are usually greys or browns, and he's never without his hat, which shades his sightless eyes and weathered face from the sun. He's fond of fingerless gloves, since the cold makes his arthritic joints ache more than usual, and his thin fingers are very prone to getting chilled. He carries a traditional blind man's white cane, with an oddly pointed end.
